The Indonesian National Carbon Accounting System (INCAS) is being developed by the Indonesian Government to monitor net greenhouse gas emissions from the land sector. It monitors both emissions and the removal of carbon from the atmosphere as new forests grow. The detailed greenhouse gas data produced by INCAS can be used to support the design, implementation and monitoring of effective policies and programs to reduce emissions and help Indonesia meet its measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) requirements and a new global agreement on climate change.
